Jabber for Mac- Cisco WebEx Meeting Center- Error Message

Chris Brown

Using Jabber 11 for Mac, using our externally hosted Meeting Server, I am getting the following error message when I attempt to utilize the "Meet Now" functionality:

“Cisco WebEx Meeting Center” can’t be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed.

Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers.

com.apple.WebKit.Plugin.64 downloaded this file on an unknown date.

When I try to utilize the single instance exception (Open Anyway button), within System Preferences, it continues to fail\show the above mentioned error.

I would appreciate any\all assistance.

Thanks

On Mac OS X Mavericks w/ Jabber 11.1 I was able to get the application added to the Gatekeeper exclusion list using the procedures captured in this blog article:

http://www.ucguerrilla.com/2015/10/dealing-with-apple-gatekeeper.html

I haven't tested with Yosemite or El Capitan yet.

Hello Chris,

To resolve this issue, select the "Anywhere" option on the 'Security & Privacy' page after you have attempted to start a WebEx using the "Meet Now" functionality.  Attempt starting using "Meet Now" - you will be prompted with a dialogue confirming you would like to open the application.  The WebEx should start.

Before closing the 'Security & Privacy' page, change your setting back to "Mac App Store and identified developers".  Close the settings page.

You should now be able to start a WebEx meeting using the "Meet Now" functionality.

Any chance that the app would get 'signed' to avoid this workaround?

i would request you all to test jabber for mac 11.5 once its out. Also please see if you may have access to EAP (beta) build to jabber for mac 11.5.

Jamie - This CANNOT be the right answer.  Please tell me you weren't serious.  Do you really want users of your product to open their mac up and risk a security issue?

Thanks to William Bell for the link to the solution.

Summary

Here is how to add an exception for Cisco WebEx Meeting Center.app for Mac Gatekeeper.

1. Navigate to this file in the Finder:

/Users/<your username>/Library/Application Support/WebEx Folder/T30_MC/Meeting Center.app
Note: Option click on the Finder GO menu to see your user Library.

2. Use Ctrl+Right Click to bring up the context menu and click on Open

3. From here, you can click on Open to create an exception for this application. You'll likely receive another message conveying how Meeting Center is launched automatically when you start or join a WebEx meeting. That's cool. We only wanted to add the exception to Gatekeeper.

Now, whenever you attempt to launch WebEx from Jabber I am taken right into the appropriate meeting room.

I had the same issue and I fixed it by disabling "Auto Proxy Discovery" and "Automatic Proxy Configuration" in the Network -> Proxies tab.
