Hello community.

I would like to ask Cisco representatives on that board if Jabber for Windows will support G.722?

I know that J4W support G.722.1, but this is not G.722

Now you can not have HD audio between IP Phone and J4W. I don't know what is the opinion of the rest of the community, but for me it is a great

I hear you. I reported this several months ago.

Either J4W should support G.722 or our Cisco 9951 should support G.722.1.

CUPS worked great, so acordng to internal sound quality, J4W is one step back

Any news about this from Cisco?

Hi Piotr,

here is response I got from development team:

There are no plans to introduce G722 at this point.

iPhone will support the Jabber codecs in the Aug release - G722.1, G7.11, G.729a - allowing for interop of these codecs across iPhone and J4W

Wow bad news

I really don't understand why this is not supported.

But that was for J4W but what about the IP phones? maybe they will support G.722.1 soon?

To my knowledge, Cisco has never added support for an additional codec after manufacture of a physical phone since this is silicon in the DSP. In theory the only way this will be solved is: a) new phone models; or, b) customer complaint to change the Jabber roadmap. Start reaching out to your Cisco AM and ask why Cisco is incapable of providing a better-than-PSTN-quality experience across their own endpoints.

Yes, but why implement a new softphone with no support for G.722 codec. CUPC supported it just fine. Its a step back.
