I am going to deploy HA for jabber MRA, I have few queries.

How this setup will works - call flow

Do i need 2 public ip for both exp-e

Do i need 2 different entries for same domain in external dns

How srv entries will works.

Please see answers to your queries:

1. Do i need 2 public ip for both exp-e

- Yes, you need two Public IP Addresses for Expressway-E servers for HA deployment. 

2. Do i need 2 different entries for same domain in external dns

- Yes, you need separate DNS A record for each Expressway-E server. This must be configured in your Public DNS.

Type	Entry	Resolves To
A record	ExpresswayE1.example.com	Public IP address ExpresswayE1
A record	ExpresswayE2.example.com	Public IP address ExpresswayE2

3. How srv entries will works.

- You need to configure SRV record for _collab-edge._tls.example.com pointing to ExpresswayE1 and ExpresswayE2. 

Domain	Service	Protocol	Priority	Weight	Port	Target Host
example.com	_collab-edge	_tls	10	10	8443	ExpresswayE1.example.com
example.com	_collab-edge	_tls	10	10	8443	ExpresswayE2.example.com

Thanks for your answer...but my 1 questions remains same...

How this MRA HA will work ...

When end user try to login using his email id and it will requst collab edge 1 but if exp e or dns 1  or exp c1 or cucm 1 will down then will it be go exp 2 automatically or not...

I just want to understand call flow for HA so that i can explain this to customer as well.

Any cisco doc will help me to understand this

Anyone who can share his experience on MRA HA and call flow for HA

Jabber will do a lookup for the SRV record, base on response it will use the one that has the best preference, if the first one is down it should use the other in the response. That’s pretty much it.

So EXPRESSWAY HA will work in active-passive mode unlike CUCM work in Active-active mode.

The answer to that is it depends. It comes down to how you setup the SRV record. If you have equal weight and priority it would use both equal, if you have one preferred over the other it would use that before the other.
