Media Services interface service Causing PCs to hang on boot up.

Hi,

I am deploying the Cisco Jabber and Cisco Media Interface MSI packages using Altiris.

All installs OK, but on about 10% the PC will fail to boot.

Media services interface install =  msi_setup-3-2-2-0-6008.msi /qn

Jabber install = CiscoJabberSetup.msi /qn+ TYPE=CUP ADDRESS=10.224.1.21 DOMAIN=xxxxxx.com LANGUAGE=1033

The only fix apears to be to boot in safe mode and disable the media services interface service.

A manual reinstall then seems to work OK.

I did log on as local admin and saw that the media services interface was stuck on starting.

We have tried asking the users to close any applications before the install, but it still seems to have the same problem.

Anyone else had this problem?

I've seen it - not with automated deployment, but on my laptop (as a jobbing Cisco partner engineer)....

What I did was set the service to 'Delayed Start' so the OS doesn't hang around for it. That helped in my case.
