segregating Jabber users from eachother

Hello,

Our current server setup: CUCM 9.1; CUCMIM&P 9.1

We are wanting to separate certain groups of people from being able to talk to other groups.

Does anyone done this or have any ideas as to how to make this possible.

We know that there are privacy settings from the user end, but we are trying to make this happen from an administrative end.

There's currently no way to do this from the IM&P server, it has to be done at end user level.

I am just wondering, picking at straws here, if there are any businesses that have been able to find a workaround to this?

I am thinking maybe hospitals separating different wards or something like this?

I understand this may be a long shot, but I thought I would ask.

I wonder how hosted solutions workaround this issue? I wouldn't think they would want customers to be able to see other customers.
