our client now see their name as first.lastname@xyz.com, .the contacts appear as just username.
when we changed samaccountname to Userprinciplename we get the users name appear as first.lastname@xyz.com and also the contacts as first.lastname@xyz.com which is what we want but we cannot add users to our contact list, is this because our accounts on cup server appear as just username i.e bloggsj . should we cange our jabber logins as first.lastname@xyz.com
thanks, Jag

Hi
You have to pick a username field that matches your CUCM username - otherwise the system does not know which CUCM user is which AD user, and you get no presence and no contact list adds.
Set it back to matching.
What was the original problem that caused you to change this?

Hi
Something else is wrong then - the way this usually works is:
1) User logs in, for a short amout of time their name shows as 'samaccountname' e.g. aharrison
2) When the username is looked up in AD, Jabber replaces it with the full name e.g. Aaron Harrrison
3) Searches etc should show full names.
I've not seen return samaccountnames before.... can you screen grab your AD users? A list in ADUC, and the General tab of an example?

Hi Aaron, thanks for reply.
Customer wants their own name to appear as firstname, lastname or their email address - they don't want samaccountname.Although they may know their own id they won't know others when they search the directory for contacts- so they may know john smith as john, smith or john.smith @org.co.uk but they wont recognise smithj
They also want to federate in the future with another sister organisation probably using cups as well and another using moc so the IM address is very important from the offset.
Appreciate your advise.
Regards
Jag
