Voice drop due to %EARL-SW1_DFC1-1-EXCESSIVE_PARITY_ERROR: EARL 0: Parity error detected in VRAM

Hello All,

I believe we have to reboot the switch to over come this error. but wanted to know if this will drop any traffic, because lately we are observing voice traffic drop in that particular location.

Your insights pls.

Cheers,

J

Have a look at CSCus64795.
If you need to reboot the chassis, consider getting the firmware upgraded.
If this system is a VSS then there might be minimal traffic loss (a few pings).
If this is a single chassis then there will be traffic loss during the reboot. Normally, reboot of a Catalyst 6k takes between 6 to 7 minutes.

Thank you @Leo Laohoo for your prompt response, but will there be any issue with the cisco voip traffic due to this bug. What we observe is sometimes not always, one way audio for telephony. But yes will definitely go for an upgrade.

I have already answered this question.  Read the 2nd and 3rd sentence of my earlier response.
