Licensing CUCM 10.x using Cisco Prime License Manager

Introduction

This document explains Licensing CUCM 10.x with Cisco Prime License Manager (PLM)

Cisco Prime License Manager

Cisco Prime License Manager (Prime LM, formerly Cisco Enterprise License Manager) aligns with the Cisco Prime management suite of products. Cisco Prime LM offers new features and capabilities and adds support for Cisco Emergency Responder. Cisco Prime LM also supports multiple clusters and multiple versions of products, such as Cisco Unified CM versions 9. x and 10. x .

If you choose to remain on Cisco Enterprise License Manager (ELM) 9. x and have 10. x clusters, ELM can support both Unified CM version 9. x and 10. x with an update from a Cisco Option Package (COP) file; however, Cisco highly recommends upgrading to Cisco Prime LM to leverage new features and functions.

Cisco Prime LM currently supports the following Cisco Collaboration applications:

• Cisco Unified CM
• Cisco Unified CM Session Management Edition (SME)
• Cisco IM and Presence Service
• Cisco Unity Connection
• Cisco Business Edition 6000
• Cisco Emergency Responder
• Cisco WebEx Meetings Server

Procedure

1. Open a web browser and type in url on address bar  http://10.1.1.10

2. Select Cisco Prime License Manager

3. Log in to the PLM with username and password

4. Expand Licenses and Click Fulfillment

5. Expand Other Fulfillment options and click Fulfill Licenses from File

6. From the popup window select browse to choose the license file which is located on the folder in the local directory.  License  file will be *.bin  file

7. Click Install and once  the installation is done click Close

8. Choose Product Instances

9. Click Add. The Product Add dialog box appears

Enter the following information:

• Name : CUCM10

• Description (optional)

• Product Type : Unified CUCM

• Hostname/IP Address : 

• Username

• Password

10. On the Product Instances page click the Synchronize Now button 

Verify the Installed license type, usage chart

but before that after generating licnese request what can be done to download the lic file

Hi ,

After u generate the license request , u need to send this file along with LCU file [This file u get prior to migrating to CUCM version 9 /10] to licensing @cisco.com to get the permanent licnese file for CUCM 10.

Hi Muthurani,

I have a customer who has 10 CMBE6K installed in different countries ( branches) . all of them in version 9.x

He wants to install one VM in one of those countries with Cisco Prime LM which allow them to have a centralized management of the licensing of those CMs.

Can it be possible?
