MARS Phone Lock for Cisco IP Phones

MARS Phone Lock application for Cisco IP Phones allows users to lock their phone before moving away from their desks and thus preventing misuse of the phone in the user’s absence.
A phone in locked state will allow all incoming calls and selected outgoing calls like emergency numbers and internal extension calls based on application configurations (CUCM configured calling search space-CSS).
The Phone Lock-Unlock Application service can also be configured in the line button of the phone.
To lock a phone the user will have to click the Phone Lock-Unlock Application service configured in the phone. To lock a phone user will not need to key in any user name or PIN.
To unlock a phone, the user will need to select the Phone Lock-Unlock Application service configured in the phone. Application will prompt user to key in a numeric PIN which is validated before the phone is unlocked.

@PTS  There are built in solutions to accomplish this within CUCM that will provide even more control.

This can easily be accomplished by Forced Authorization Codes (FAC) feature. With added customizations beyond what you listed based on CSS/Partitions as well.

 

Another option is Extension Mobility (EM), where users would login to their "phone profile" on their desired device. This would pull down their device/line configuration. Once the user is done and wants to walk away they simply log out of EM.

Advantages of MARS Phone Lock/Unlock along with Cisco Extension Mobility(EM)

To prevent misuse of a phone in his absence a user needs to logout his EM profile before leaving his desk and from then on all further incoming calls will be directly diverted to his voice mail.

In such a case any person calling (might be customer/boss) might have the impression that the person is not in office.
If Mars Lock/Unlock is present then all the incoming calls will first land on the phone and on not being answered the call will be diverted to the voice mail.

On returning to his desk the employee has to check each of his voice mail to know the calls he has missed.
If MARS Lock/Unlock is present then the employee on returning to his desk can see the list of missed calls at the click of a button.

With MARS Lock/Unlock if required the employee can ask his colleague to answer an important call which he is expecting when he is not in his desk which will not be possible by logging out his EM profile because the call will not land on the phone.

Note: Mars Lock/Unlock application works for both EM & Non-EM users

 

With Forced Authorization Codes (FAC) the user will have to enter a PIN every time he/she needs to dial out a call
