CUCX 5 CUCM 7 compatiblitiy?

I cannot find anything to tell if they are compatible.

Also, this is for the IE Lab.  I only have acess to CUCX 5.0.  How much does it differ from CUCX 7?  Wondering if I will be able to improvise for my studies.

Whereas they are differnt in some capacity, they are very similar.
