Procedure for adding new UCCX node

Does anybody know the proper procedure for adding a new UCCX node?  The first node currently has a SR installed.

Do I remove the SR from the first node then install the second node?

Or can I apply the SR to the second node before adding it to the cluster?

Thanks

It would help to know the version of UCCX you are using.

Running 7.0(1)SR05_Build504

Well this procedure worked:

First Node running 7.0(1)SR05_Build504

Installed 7.0(1) on Second Node

Installed SQL

rebooted

Installed SR5

rebooted

Ran CCX Setup

Worked like a champ!

Hope this helps someone.

If you've never done it before, try running it in a lab enviornment before you do it in production.  The  Telephony OS will install in VMWare for 30 days which should give you  time to test and run through the upgrade process in a sandbox before you  touch your production equipment.

The procedure I use is the following:

On existing UCCX 7.0(1)SR5 box:

  1. Run a manual backup of your UCCX server
  2. Install the CRSSQL disk (Upgrades the MSSQL Engine to full MSSQL Server)
  3. Reboot
  4. Login to UCCX and verify things are running properly (IN_SERVICE)

On new UCCX HA server

  1. Install Telephony OS
  2. Install UCCX 7.0(1) (Do Not reboot when it asks)
  3. Install CRSSQL
  4. Reboot
  5. Close the setup web browser window when it starts up automatically
  6. Install UCCX 7.0(1)SR5 patch
  7. Reboot
  8. Complete setup in web browser to attach HA server to existing UCCX server
  9. Wait 1 hr for db sync to finish after HA setup is complete
  10. Login to UCCX Primary and verify that services for both servers are are IN_SERVICE
  11. Install matching Telephony OS patch
  12. Reboot

A couple of other things to note:

  • UCCX will try to add failover CTI-Ports to all your call control groups when it attaches itself to the UCCX primary. It can take a long time to do this so be patient.
  • Best results are had when all CTI-Ports for any particular call control group are sequential.  That means you may need to renumber existing CTI-Ports to make room for the failover ports.  It is best to do this *before* you begin to attach the failover server.
