The VNMC GUI is a web-based application that is developed using an Adobe Flex GUI framework. As a result, you can capture the XML interchange between the GUI and the VNMC server by installing a debug version of Adobe Flash Player.
After installing the debug version of Adobe Flash Player for Firefox, use the following steps.
1. Create a file named "mm.cfg" in the following locations:
Windows; C:\Documents and Settings\username\mm.cfg
Mac:/Library/Application Support/Macromedia/mm.cfg and /Users/YourUserName/mm.cfg
2. Open the newly created mm.cfg file in a text editor and add the following text: ErrorReportingEnable=1 TraceOutputFileEnable=1
3. Restart the Mozilla Firefox.
Keep in mind:
VNMC is composed by many applications, e.g. Main application (the one where you login), Tenant management, Resouce management, etc.
The steps you did before is just to allow FlashPlayer to write on your computer.
Application debugging is off by default and it can be turned on/off individually using the Logger console by pressing Shift-Ctrl+L
4. Before login you can turn on Debugging the main application and all applications from the console, press Shift-Ctrl+L:
Destination: Place where the log is going to be written.
None: Logger is disabled.
Trace: Will write to the flashlog.txt file located in Windows-C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\Logs\flashlog.txt Mac-/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/Logs/flashlog.txt
Local: A data grid will show up and will write the log there, you can close the console, perform some actions and then open again to see the transactions, the advantage of this one is that the data can be filtered.
Level: The log level to use, it can be All, Debug, Info, Warn and Fatal.
Apply to all applications: Select this if you want to turn on debugging to all applications, if you dont want that, then follow the same steps once you are inside the application that you need to debug.
