Version 6.X introduced a new Web Based Client.  The information below describes how to increase the logging level.

On the Client Manager all logging levels are configured in two files:

clientmgr.props

<DSP>.dsp where <DSP> is the DSP name configured during installation.

Both of these files are in the [client manager installation]/config directory.

All log settings are case sensative.

Here here are the possible logging levels:

  • SEVERE (highest value) - least amount of infromation
  • WARNING
  • INFO
  • CONFIG
  • FINE
  • FINER
  • FINEST (lowest value) - most amount of information

CLIENTMGR.PROPS

The following two settings are the logging categories that apply to the Client Manger:

DspLog – For items related to the DSP module.

CommonsLog – For items related to core component logging, such as the Jetty embedded Web server.

To enable logging for the Jetty Webserver and DSP module you need to add these two setting to the clientmgr.props.

Below is a example of a clientmgr.props file with logging turned up to its finest level:

PrimaryServer=tcp://server:6215

Security.Authentication=ActiveDirectory

ActiveDirectory.Host=adhost

ActiveDirectory.Port=389

ActiveDirectory.UserSearchPrefix=DC=testdomain,DC=local

ActiveDirectory.GroupSearchPrefix=DC=testdomain,DC=local

JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jre6

JVMARGS=-Xms8192m -Xmx8192m -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m

MaxLogFiles=1000

JmxRmiPort=1100

JmxOn=Y

DspLog=FINEST

CommonsLog=FINEST

<DSP>.DSP

Below are the logging categrories that apply to the DSP:

CacheLog – Applies to writing to the cache during synchronization.

DspLog – For items related to the DSP module.

RequestLog – Relates to all requests of the DSP.

RPCLog – Communication between the Client Manager and Master.

ClientLog – Client related logging.

CommonsLog – Relates to core component logging.

The following is an example <DSP>.dsp file with logging set to different levels:

BackupServer=<BackupServer>:6215

ClientType=tes-6.0.0.0

PrimaryServer=<PrimaryServer>:6215

DspLog=FINEST

CacheLog=FINER

RequestLog=FINE

RpcLog=WARNING

ClientLog=SEVERE

LOG STORAGE:

  • The logs for the client manager (clientmgr) are stored in the [client manager installation]/log directory.
  • The logs for DSP are stored in the [client manager installation]/plugins/[DSP NAME]/log directory.
