1000v install: vSwitch 0 native VLAN?

During the GUI configuration of the Nexus 1000v one of the VSM config options is "vSwitch0 Native Vlan". In our configuration we have trunked ports from our 5010, through HP virtual connect, to the server's pNICs. All VLANs are tagged as we use VST mode. Let's say the trunk has VLANs 400, 401, 410, and 420. I'm not clear what value the GUI configuration is looking for when it asks for for the vSwitch 0 Native Vlan. If the CTRL-PKT VLAN is 401 and the Management VLAN is 400, would we input 400?

Derek,

The 1000v's entry for Native VLAN is querying for the untagged VLAN.  This would need to match the upstream switch (Virtual Connect or other) Native VLAN configuration on the link.

If you're using VST, and/or do not have any native VLAN configured on the Virtual Connect side, then you can set this to a dummy/unused value (ie. VLAN 1).

Correct, some additional information:

This is prompted since the VMware vSwitch allows configuration of a port group with an unspecified VLAN id (which uses the upstream switch native vlan). Since we can't create a port profile with an unspecified VLAN id, we prompt for the user to fill in the native VLAN id for the physical interfaces on the upstream switch.

In the case that native VLAN portgroups are not used on vSwitch, this parameter is for the most part unused during the GUI configuration.
