Hello all,
I have a quick question regarding BGP routing protocol. In our DataCenter we have Nexus7710 version 8.3(2), with N77-F348XP-23 line cards, and we are currently running OSPF. We would like to enable the BGP feature, in order to create BGP peerings with our NSX environment. I enabled the feature on one of our VDCs, but I haven't configured the protocol yet.
From an old discussion with some peers, I was under the impression that BGP is only supported when using M3 line cards (which seemed weird at the time, since BGP it is a routing protocol... why should the line cards have anything to do with this), or does this limitation only apply to MP-BGP EVPN?
Can someone help clarify? Can I use BGP routing protocol regardless of line cards? If the feature can be enabled, can I use it?
Thank you in advance,
Katerina

Yes, I am not sure where you saw this statement, but BGP is a software protocol and should not be related to the type of linecard.

Thank you so much for the answer.
It did strike me as really odd, so that is why I wanted to clarify! In such a case I will proceed to configure it as intended!
Thanks!
