Is it possible to configure "tcp adjust-mss" interface basis on N9K?

Dear all,

I am just wondering why Nexus9K can not configure "ip tcp adjust-mss" on interface basis
which catalyst series normally do like this.

C3560G(config-if)#ip tcp adjust-mss ?
<500-1460> Maximum segment size in bytes

Nexus9K normally can configure on global configuration mode.

N9K(config)# ip tcp mss ?
  <88-10000> Maximum segment size
              *Default value is 536

I just want to configure it on interface VLAN (SVI). as I know tunnel interface can support for this however I appreciate to let me know any CCO link which there is limitation.

Best Regards,

Masanobu Hiyoshi

Hello @mhiyoshi

The Nexus 9K switches are designed primarily for data center deployments and support a wide range of features and configurations to meet the needs of these environments. However, the Nexus 9K switches do not support the "ip tcp adjust-mss" command on an interface basis, which means that the command cannot be configured on individual interfaces. Instead, the "ip tcp adjust-mss" command can only be configured globally on the device, which applies the configuration to all interfaces.

One possible reason for this limitation is that the Nexus 9K switches use a different architecture compared to other Cisco devices, which may have resulted in different implementation details for certain commands and configurations. Additionally, the Nexus 9K switches are designed to be part of larger data center networks, which may have their own mechanisms in place to address MTU issues and prevent fragmentation of TCP packets.

Best regards
