Hi all,

I am curious about, Does FEX(N2K) with N5K as parent support L3 interface?

My N2K is N2K-C2248TP-E-1GE

My N5K is N5K-C5672UP-16G

here is the following output as I try to configure it as L3 port:

N5K_(config)# interface ethernet 101/1/23
N5K_(config-if)# no switchport
ERROR: Ethernet101/1/23: configuration not allowed on this interface

N5K_(config-if)#

Any help is much appreciated.

Regards

Seek,

Doing some investigation I found that this is possible but when connecting a FEX to a Nexus 7k, see below:

Refer to "Layer 3 host interfaces"

Hello Seek,

Regarding to your query, the N2K-C2248TP-E-1GE does not support L3 in the HIF(host interfaces), with the L3 module (L3 ASIC) installed in the 5k, just the 5k interfaces are allowed to be configured with L3, that is a hardware limitation in the FEX.

Hi Orlando

Thanks for your response. How about the N2K-C2232PP-10GE FEX?

And do you know where this information is located in the datasheet?
