Hi team,

Please I want to be sure that the command "mac-learn disable" in SW NX 9K disable the reading of the MAC address without any impact for our VLAN or infra.

Thanks in advance.

ERSPAN is the best option here. Basically the mirrored traffic will be encapsulated in GRE and forwarded directly to the destination IP address.

Here is how to configure it: https://www.letsconfig.com/how-to-configure-erspan-on-cisco-nexus-switches/

Here is how to decode it: https://packetpushers.net/erspan-new-favorite-packet-capturing-trick/

Hi @sel18

<CORRECTION>

Seems like disabling mac learning is supported in 10.2.X.

<\CORRECTION>

Anyway, why would you like to disable the mac learning? That is like converting your switch to a hub. Even if you could do this on you N9K switch, I would suggest you do not.

Apart of that, normally, there should be no impact because of flooding, but the only potential problem which I have in mind is over-subscription, which could lead to packet drops.

Thanks,

Sergiu

@Sergiu.Daniluk

thank you for your reply. yes NX didn't support the mac-learn that's why i want to ask about the the ERSPAN or RSPAN in Cisco.

my goal is the mirroring of the traffic.

thanks in advance.

If traffic mirroring is what you are looking for, then SPAN/RSPAN/ERSPAN or Nexus Data Broker are your friends, depending on what exactly you want to do.

Take care,

Sergiu

thanks @Sergiu.Daniluk

I want to know about the SPAN/RSPAN/ERSPAN from NX 9K to SW Catalyset ( it mean that ERSPAN in source only) is that possible with ERSPAN L2 traffic or not ?

regards.

I am still not sure what you are trying to achieve. Can you give more details?

@Sergiu.Daniluk

I want to know if it is possible to config ERSPAN or RSPAN for mirroring of traffic between site A and B

We have NX9K in Site A and Catalyst in site B.

PS our NX9k is is SW L2.

thanks in advance.
