Nexus 1000v vEthernet LACP?

Hello,

I have a virtual lab with VMware Workstation 9 on the physical host OS.

Within VMware Workstation I have two ESXi 5.1 hosts and a vCenter 5.1 VM.

I managed to install Nexus 1000v distributed switch in vSphere.

Within vSphere I have a NetApp Simulator 8.1.1 with 4 interfaces conected to a port-group of the Nexus.

What I am trying to do is set up multimode dynamic interface groups (LACP) within ONTAP.

I can't figure out how to enable LACP on the Nexus vEthernet ports that ONTAP is connected to.

Advice is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Tibi

As far as I know LACP is only supported on physical ports.  Why would you want to bundle virtual interfaces?  There's no increase in throughput virutally speaking.  If this is purely for an excercise your only option would be host based teaming such as TLB.

I suspected so..

Indeed it is for testing purposes.

How would I go about a static port channel given my environment configuration?

I am using the guides, but can you detail the idea a bit?

Thanks,

Tibi

You can't technically "channel" vEthernet interfaces together on the N1K.  I was thinking more along the lines of TLB (Transmit Load Balancing) where you could have multiple vEth interfaces on the Netapp appliance and it would handle the balancing of outgoing traffic.   Again, there's no aggregation or "port-channel" in this regard.
