"the resource vim.dvs.distributedvirtualport 100 is in use." Try to revert an ESX host to Enterprise from Ent Plus Licensing

I setup an Enterprise Plus demo license on one of my ESX host so I could use the Nexus 1000 demo.  The Ent Plus license has expired and I am trying to revert that host back to standard Enterprise licensing.  When I try to revert the host I get the error "the resource vim.dvs.distributedvirtualport 100 is in use.  DVS knxlab-nexus1k-sw1 port 100 on host x.x.x.x connected to x.x.x.x"  x.x.x.x is the host that I am trying to revert.  Any advice?

PS.  It is holding Virtual Machines hostage because the license is expired and I cannot move them to another host

Can you edit the settings of the virtual machines and move the VNICs back to a vswitch?

It seems thats because the Enterprise Plus license has expired I cannot make any edits to the current networking configs.  I can add new vswitches but I cannot do anything to the items on the nexus1k
