i am upgrading n5600 vPC pair. there are unicast multicast hosts conneced behind this vPC pair.
vPC secondary ugprade doesn't cause any outage.
vPC primary is causing about 3 minute outage when it comes back up after reload due to upgrade. following are the steps performed for ugprade:
1. isolate uplinks
2. isolate downlinks to hosts.
3. shutdown keepalive link.
4. shutdown peer link.
5. perform upgrade.
6. reload.
7. unshut peerlink and keepalive link
8. unshut uplinks
9. unshut downlinks to host
I am seeing about 3 minutes outage for host unicast multicast traffic after step 9 even though hosts are dual attached to both vPC member switches and switch that was not upgrade was always up.
how to fix it or minimize downtime of 3 minutes?
