Cisco ESA C195 power button LED is amber after power outage.

Hi community,

We have an issue with a new device which after installation had some power outage in the rack/UPS. Now the device seems unresponsive. All the LEDs in front are green - system, ethernet, temp, fan, the power-on button is amber. The console is empty and doesn't show any indications during power-off/power-on.

As per the documentation Amber power button means standby mode, however after attempts to gracefully shutdown (although it is in standby mode), we had to power off from the cable. Powering on leads to the same state.

In the guide I see this :

wait 10 minutes for the system to initialize each time you power up the system. After the appliance

powers up, a solid green light on the front panel indicates that the appliance is operational.

!!! Caution If you turn the power off before the initialization is complete, the appliance will not reach an operational

state and must be returned to Cisco.

Does this mean that if for some reason during booting (10min to operational state) the device had power issue (or someone unplugs the cable) it breaks and a Cisco RMA is needed?

Thanks.

Regards,

Emil

when the unconditional shutdown happends, you need to press that organce button to make the system to boot, it take while (depends on device boot) to get console output, be patient ...give 20-30min easy to get normal. (may be more of any thing corrupted and autofixing take time.

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hello BB,

Thanks for the suggestion, however in our case it is not working. Pressed shortly the amber power-on button and waiting on the console for 65minutes shows no output.

I didn't mention but besides all lights green with the exception of power-on (amber), we see no lights on the 2 drive bays on the left. I suppose since the device is not operational.

Regards.

Looks like devices Failed - Raise a TAC case for RMA.
