NTP issues

Hello,

Recently, i upgraded my two ESAs on my lab.

One of them has synchdonization issues with the ntp. The time difference is not big, its around two min but its still weird. The other one is sync and shows the exact local time.

Let me tell you that we use this ntp for all the lab devices and none of them have shown this behavior.

Anyway, i tried to manually add the time and then it was ok  when i switched back to ntp server, still the same odd behavior.

Has anyone else experienced? Is there any log subscription that I can check?

On docs, there are no troubleshooting steps for issues like the above.

Waiting to hear your feedback.

Thanks for the reading,

Meb

Hello,

I assume these are virtuals? If so, we have some t-shooting steps in the virtual installation guide for time skipping that may be relevant.

https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/security/content_security/virtual_appliances/Cisco_Content_Security_Virtual_Appliance_Install_Guide.pdf#page=21

For logs, you can review the sntpd_logs which will show connections out to your NTP servers and then any time changes that occur. If it's just slowly getting out of sync, then there's a good chance it's the virtual host settings mentioned in the guide.

Thanks!
