Hello,
for testing purposes, I need to install two virtual email appliances. As far as I know, a virtual appliance also has its own serial number. Is this number automatically generated with each install or is it part of the downloaded package? Means, if I install one downloaded image twice, do I get a problem with a duplicate serial number? I will need eval licenses too.
Thanks in advance / regards
Hakan

you can deploy any number of Virtual ESAs with same image and license. Serial Numbers will be generated different. it is not binding to image or license.
regarding cloning, it should require license in cloned machine and after installing license a new SN should be generated.
you can check cloning details in virtual ESA installation guide : https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/wsa/wsa-va-install-guide/virtual-appliance-install-guide.pdf

each VM will have its own serial no... it will a OVA so when you install it goes through the install process and have a unique VM. you can generate a eval license..https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/email-security-virtual-appliance/118301-technote-esa-00.html
you can leave serial no blank and use it on multiple devices from what i have tested before..

Yes. Spin up each VM separately, then apply a license. Don't clone it.
