500 Series Headset - User Association

I am new to the 500 series headsets.

What is the purpose of associating an end user with a headset?

It appears to be optional as the headset works without being associated with a user.

I'm wondering what is the difference if the headset is associated vs not associated?

Does the end user notice anything?

I did review that.

Maybe I am missing something.

That document tells me 'how' to associate the user, but doesn't tell me 'why' I should.

Does the headset User Association assist with Extension Mobility login?

If we are not using Ext Mobility, is there any benefit to associating the user?
