Hi,

There are some advantages and disadvantaged for the BE. The telephony features between a CUCM and a CUCMBE are basically the same, but they differ on scalability. Besides, with CUCM BE you can have Unity Connection embedded, but one disadvantage is there is no redundancy available and with CUCM you can set up clusters and CUCM groups and have a separate Unity Connection with HA.

Both CUCM and CUCMBE can be integrated with MS Lync. Please refer to the Release Notes below and check the supported versions:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucimoc/8_5/english/release/cucimocReleaseNote.html#wp222785

For more info you can check both SRNDs below:

Just to add. I understand the max users is 500 which is our requirement - though you can not tell the future growth however how will  MS OCS/ Lync effect it. - Can you have integrate to MS OCS  via CUCIMOC/ Lync ?

Hi

Thanks for the reply. You mentioned redundancy, I thought the Cmbe option could have SRST- is this true?

Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App

You can still have SRST, but you cannot have multiple servers in a cluster like CUCM.
