7841 has different ringtone for internal / external calls

So a Customer Just blew my small mind.  Our Site consists mainly of 7841 devices running sip78xx.11-7-1-17, all calls come into and leave our site over ISR4k's to PSTN

I did NOT know that if a call is made internally, it is a different ringtone than if a call comes in from PSTN!!

My 8865 device does not do this.  Is anyone aware of the setting that allows this?  I'm not seeing anything online about this 'feature'.

What is the call agent/ call control ? AFAIK this is not possible on CUCM but can be done on CME. Are you sure your user is not confusing a ringback with a ring tone ?

To add, if the user has two different lines used for internal and PSTN calls, you can do that that through Distinctive Ringlist XML but not for a single line.

Nope, same DN, running CUCM 11.5.1.11900-26

I also thought this was something wanted, but never made possible.  I've tested it on about 4 7841 devices so far and they all do it.  if internal user 3303992 calls the phone (3304990) rings one way, but if I call from my cell phone it has a shorter, more rapid tone on the 7841.  Maybe I will record it and post it up to show what I mean.

You need to run some debugs for PSTN calls on ISR4K to see if you are getting local ringback or early-media. I can see this happening if you are getting early-media for PSTN calls. In this case, local calls will get ringback from CUCM ANN while PSTN calls will get ringback telco which makes it different.

Ah-Ha!! Yes!  I have recently made some adjustmentsto our system relating to Early Media.  I will look into that and get back to you
