Hi,
I've a batch of 7912G phones we've deployed within our organisation. Most have worked fine, however we have a dozen or so that when powered on are sat there with RED and GREEN amber lights on and nothing showing on the display.
Any ideas how i can reset them to facotry defaults or something similar.

Here are the steps for 7912 factory reset.
Step 1 Press the Menu button.
Step 2 Use the Navigation button to select Settings, and then press the Select softkey.
Step 3 Use the Navigation button to select Network Configuration, and then press
the Select softkey.
Step 4 Perform either of these procedures:
*Procedure A:
-Press **2. The phone displays "Do you want to reset all system settings to default
values?"
-Press the Yes softkey.
*Procedure B:
-Press **#. If your phone displays "Enter Admin Password," enter your password and then
press the Enter softkey. Make sure that an unlocked padlock icon appears in the
upper-right corner of your LCD.
-Scroll to Erase Configuration.
-Press the Yes softkey and then press the Save softkey.

That does not apply for the OP, because his phones fails to boot.

You are probably right.
Most of the TAC cases I searched resulted in a RMA of the 7912.
I might be that the phone failed to upgrade and fell back to recovery mode.
You can verify if the phone is in recovery mode by taking a Wireshark trace and read the note below.
Here are some notes about the recovery mode:
The Cisco 7912 IP phone can automatically detect and recover from
corruption in its stored
software. Software corruption rarely occurs but may occur when there is a
momentary or complete loss of power during the software upgrade process.
When this condition is detected, the Cisco 7912 IP phone is designed to
automatically request
a file named *cp7912r.zup, *which can be any Cisco 7912 IP phone
software image. It is
recommended that you make a copy of any firmware image version
and name it *cp7912r.zup* to keep this automated software recovery feature.
To take advantage of this feature, the Cisco 7912 IP phone must be
configured to use a
TFTP server and the file named *cp7912r.zup *must be available for download
from the TFTP server.

In my experience, 7912 phones stuck in boot loader will not look for a file named like above.
They will search instead for a configuration file and firmware as detailed in the many threadd dedicated to this matter, that are easy to find using the search button.
It would be pointless to repeat the discussion here again as it has been fully discussed already.

Do you have any news about Red / Green Light of Death on 7912?
My experience is the same as You. If i put a TFTP and DHCP server, all OK as wrote on any Cisco Discursions, Put all Files on TFTP...
DHC works fine, but the phone not request ANY files.. Zup, XML, CNF, nothing happens.. After few seconds.. DHCP again.. All Again...
No support on Brasil. I will put this phone on Trash...
