We have a 6509 switch and when plugging the 7937 directly to one of the Fast Ethernet ports, the Conference phone does not power up.
I read that the port has to be configured for Ieee 802.3af. Is their a command to enable this? I also read that you have to be at a specific version. I am a bit confused. Below is my show run, can someone please verify what needs to get done to get the phone functional?

What is the model number of the blade/module you are plugging this phone into?
The 7937G is an IEEE 802.3af PoE (Class 3 device) meaning it requires 15.4 Watts.
If the module is a prestandard POE blade it will not be able to provide the correct power to it.
If the module supports IEEE 802.3af PoE you might want to verify the phone works by using a CP-PWR-CUBE3.

I know some of the other conference phones require an external power supply. I would check the documentation closer to make sure this isn't the case.
Otherwise, try switching ports on the switch, may be a bad card/port.

I had a similar issue on my 4500 switch with the same phone. The blades in my 4500 are mdoel WS-4148-RJ45V which from what I can gather don't support the required IEEE 802.3af. My upgrade choice is to move to a WS-4248-RJ45V to support this phone. I opted to add a Cisco 3506(8-port) which was a cheaper alternative to replacing a blade for one conference phone.
