Dear All
I have a problem which I am trying to solve but without any progress.
I have a third part SIP server (Brekeke SIP Server) And I need to register Cisco IP Phone 7942 with this SIP server.
What are the best procedure to do that ?
I am using SIP load "SIP42.9-1-1SR1S" and attached is my SEP file. but it is giving me "Registering" the whole time. and it is giving (X) mark on the phone symbol at the line.
I used wireshark to capture the traffic going to SIP server, but there is no SIP packets passing.
Really I need your help guys .. and waiting for it.
Regards
Haytham

Google has information on what you can do, here's a good guide: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+phone+cisco+79xx
The config file format for 7940/60 phones can be found here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7960g_7940g/sip/1_0/english/administration/guide/maintain.html#wp1022331
The only phone models supported by Cisco as SIP with a 3rd party are the 7940/7960 phones. Here's where that's documented: ""Although SIP firmware is IETF RFC 3261 compliant, it is not supported by Cisco TAC or Engineering for use with non-Cisco call control systems."

You are right, the links you share are related to 7940/7960
and I opened a case with TAC, they said it was not tested before and so it is not supported with 7942.
But technically, It should support, at the end it is Open protocol !
Any Ideas ?
and where can I download SIP firmware version 7.5 ?

You can download phone firmware from cisco.com, going to Support > Download on the homepage (http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/navigator.html?i=!ch)
