7962 alternate tftp

Done this one a bunch of times but not with 7962.

Trying to get a phone to register with a different cluster than the tftp option is offering up via dhcp.

Have network connectivity in place.

Have changed the alternate tftp to yes and entered the new tftp server.  Phone still registers with original CUCM (8.5).

Desired CUCM is 7.1.5.

I've tried setting phone to not use dhcp but this is not working either.

Are there any tips or tricks that need to be leveraged here to make the phone register to another cluster?

Do I have to wipe the phone to get rid of any CUCM info that exists?

I've tried power cycle, reset.

Any help would be appreciated.

You may need to delete the ITL file on the downloaded from the CUCM8.1.5. although CUCM7 does not enforce ITL as CUCM8.X

You can also check the status messages on the phone to see whats going on
