I have a 7962 phone with SIP42.8-5-4S that is not registering with its server - asterisk in this case.
I watched the logs and observed the downloading of the SEPXXXXX.cnf.xml
after that it trys to nab several files, ie /mk-sip.jar, g3-tones.xml and dialplan.xml
(none of these 3 files are present).
Research suggests that mk-sip and g3-tones are not required.
it then loads the dialplan.xml
thats about all it does.
The display is set up the way I would expect.
seeing as this is not all that helpful, I put wireshark on the server
I see it successfully resolving the name in proxyServerURL
I see it trying to tftp CTLSEPxxxxx - its not found
I see it trying to tftp SEPxxxxx.conf.xml - successfully
I see it trying to resolve callManagerGroup.members.member.callManager.processNode Name - successfully
I see it trying to tftp mk-sip - unsuccessfully, but this is not a required file.
I see it trying to tftp g3-tones - unsuccessfully, but this is not a required file.
I see it trying to tftp dialplan.xml - successfully.
I see it trying to resolve the SRV _sip._udp.<mydomain> dns record successfuly
I see it asking for the time via NTP a number of times - and thats it.
no more network traffic.
consulting the status messages on the phone i see:
Error updating locao
No CTL installed
File not found: CTLFile.tlv
My great annoyance is that I used a template SEP file that I dont know if it goes with the version of SIP i have....
Having said that under sip general configuration, register with proxy is set to true.
The only thing thats bugging me is under line1 the proxy address is set properly but the port is blank.
if it tried sending a udp packet to the wrong port, wireshark would have picked it up.
I've checked the fire all (and turned it off to make sure)
What am I missing??
Is there a SEP template or some documentation I can consult?
If it would be helpful i'll post a sanitized copy of the SEP file....

but it did not work.
That's nice. But is this the only info available for troubleshooting?
