8 digit dialling internally

Hi,

I have a user who is asking whether we can have 8 digit dialling interally for her specifically. We normally have the 4 digit extension system going up. Is such a thing possible at all ( translation pattern ? )

I'll assume this is CUCM because you mention TP. You ALWAYS need to mention what you're using (and version) when asking for help.

Yes, if she wants to be reached by people dialing her 8 digit DN or whether she wants to dial 8 digits DNs for everyone you use TPs.

Thanks.. i would keep that in mind can you kindly let me know the exact process for providing her that 8 digit internal extension through TP, if her extension is 4xxx . i would really appreciate if you can kindly guide me on this with regards to the configuration.

One way to it

Create a partition which is not included in any CSS in the system let's call it p1

Assign this patroon to that 4digits DN

Create new CSS that contain p1 partition

Let's call it CSS1

Create a translation patten as bellow

Pattern the desired 8 digit number to be called

Partition a partition that is accessible by internal CSS of other phones

CSS use CSS1 created above

Called number transformation mask put the actual 4 digit number in partition p1 above

I kindly wanted to clarify that the 8 Digit TP , would have which Partn., the new one or the one which is used on all the phones ?

And as you mentioned that the CSS would be new one..  that it fine

You mentioned that your internal extensions are 4 digits only

One user need be dialed as 8 digit extension

This can be done either

- change that user extension to 8 digits number

- or by using TP as described above

You need a new partition to be assigned to this user number to make sure it is not dialed directly by user but via the traslarion pattern

The suggested partition will be included in the new CSS above provided to the TP

And the TP partition has to be something accessible by other internal phones CSS

Let's assum the user 4 digit number is 5500 and need to be dialed as 12345500

The logic will will be Dialed number 12345500 > TP > 5500 > actual number 5500 in partition p1

TP pattern:  1234.5500

Partition: ( ur internal phones partition)

CSS :  CSS1

Called number transformation: discard pre dot
