8845 Icon near external mask #

Noticed a new "initial" icon in the header (top left side) next to External phone # mask on 8845s (new deployment).  This icon changes with the line text; can this be removed?  What is it?  Why is it there?  Can it be changed to something else?

That feature was added in the 11.7 Phone firmware. In the 12.0.1 Phone firmware they removed this feature, upgrading is how we have gotten around this as we didn't like it either.
