We have implemented a remote VG site with CUE at Local Office. This VG is connected to CUCM 7.0.2 at our Head Office over the WAN .
· In local local Office we have configured G.711 compression (as CUE can only use G.711)
· The WAN uses G.729 compression (the our local router is doing the conversion)
· IP phones at the Head Office are using G.729 compression
Users in local can hear the CUE AA prompts OK, but the users who dial the AA from IP phones in Head Office cannot hear the AA prompts at all. They cannot even hear the music-on-hold. I suspect that this is happening due to Codec diffrence.
Question: Can this issue be resolved by specific configurations in CUCM?

You are very likely correct - this is a classic situation where you need a hardware transcoder inserted from the gateway local to the CUE. Do you have a dspfarm on your local gateway (you will need this, no way around it other than running G711 over your WAN)? You will need to set up regions and device pools if you haven't already and assign the CUE ports to a "G711 only" one and the branch to one that is G729 to other regions and G711 to devices on-site.

I forgot to add - the hardware transcoder must be added to the MRG/MRGL that is assigned
to CUE so it can be invoked when a call comes from the other branch.

What is happening is the call AA is expecting 711 but the call from the outside location is coming in as 729. You will need to add DSP's or assign DSP resources and set it up to transcode the remote calls.
