Hi
i have set up AAR on a CM 4.2(3) system. I realise it overflows to PSTN when bandwitch threshold has been reached. Problem is is doesn't send any extra digits. For example phone in site A calls site B extension 8111, when i do debug isnd q931 i see pstn call made but called party is only 8111 even though i have put prefix digits in AAR group. I think i must be missing something. Does someone have any ideas?

Colin,
AAR uses the External Phone Number Mask configured for the called DN. This should be the full e.164 number for the DN that is accessible from the PSTN. So, for extension 8111, the external phone number mask might be 222-333-8111. When AAR is invoked, it will use the prefix digits for the AAR group and the external phone number mask. So, if the prefix digits are 91, the called number would be 912223338111.
Hope this helps. If so, please rate the post.

Thanks for the reply Brandon, so if i understand right the calling callmanager gets the external phone number mask from the called callmanager? I have external number masks set on all extensions, does an AAR group have to be set up at each end for it to work?

Colin,
Once you define AAR groups, they should be applied to
a. Gateways
b. Directory numbers (under phones)
c. Voicemail ports.
So if you have dallas office and austin office. To dial between the two offices a 91 should be used as the AAR prefix. Define the ext ph number masks under each phone DN belonging to both offices. Also set the AAR group for Dallas under Dallas phone DNs and Austin under Austin phone DNs. You should also create an AARCSS that has access to route patterns routing calls only through the appropriate local gateway at each office. Once this AAR CSS is defined you can set it under phones belonging to the appropriate office. This CSS will be used to determine which routepattern/gateway to use to route calls under AAR conditions.
