Hi All
I have ATA 187 problem with dialing out. Some fax when connected to ATA 187 does not dial, even internal number does not work. Other fax work no problem with the ATA. All the faxes are different model so I am thinking it must be a fax issue. If I connect phone to ATA it dials no problem. Do ATA 187 have specific requirements on the fax type? Fax receive no problem - only dialling out is the problem.
Thanks

Hi there,
Is this registered to CUCM or CME? If CME, ConnectMode on the ATA must be enabled:
For a Cisco ATA that is registered to a Cisco Unified CME system to participate in fax calls, it must have its ConnectMode parameter set to use the same RTP payload type as the Cisco voice gateway that is performing the fax pass-through. Cisco voice gateways use standard payload type 0/8, which is selected on Cisco ATAs by setting bit 2 of the ConnectMode parameter to 1.
HTH,
Chris

Hi All
Problem fixed. Some old faxes have an option for fax to either connect to PABX or PSTN (setting is called R-Setting) and other I change the country mode.
Thanks

Hi
Mind to explain on how you solve the fax issue in more details?

Hi
On the old fax machine there are settings that allow you to change whether FAX is connected to PSTN or PBX. If setting is set to use PSTN and you plug it into ATA 187 it will not dial. One FAX I had to change a parameter called "R-Setting" but every fax is different.
Thanks
