It's a strange issue for ATA187 did not support data modem but we can not find the reason from any document......
We know, ATA 186 and VG204 support the data modem. But anybody know why ?

Hi En,
Modem calls are supported in ATA187.
Following are some of the modems verified to work
B103, V.21, V.22, V.32, V.34, V.90, V.92

Hi Ronak:
Thanks for your reply
Actully customer want to use ATA187 connect to modem, and then use the dial-up to access internet.
Before, the ATA186 and VG202/204 can work under this way, but ATA187 can not.
I checked the data sheet. But there is not information about the ATA187 can be a "data modem" (Actully ATA186 is also the same)
I see the ATA187 support "Fax Modem" standard:
ITU-T V.34
ITU-T V.34 Annex 12
K56flex
V.21
V.22
V.23
V.32
V.32bis
V.44
V.90
V.92
But the different between "Data transmission" and "FAX transmission" is:
1. modem payload originates as digital data, whereas fax payload is a paper image that has been encoded into a digital data stream
2. the initial handshaking that determines the facsimile or data capabilities of each party in the transmission.
But I still can not understand why ATA187 can not support "Data transmission" but ATA186 can be.....
The hardware different or the different between SIP(ATA186) and SCCP(ATA186) ??
TAC still did not give the reason......
Best Regards
