If I put an external long distance number in as an option say dial 1 to get to here in the auto attendant script, will it totally transfer them or will it charge my long distance?
This would count against your LD. It would also take up 2 lines - one for the incoming call, one to send the call back out. The call would be hairpinned through your system for the duration of the call.
