Auto Reboot

Hello Experts,

We are going to have a power shutdown this weekend. Is there a way to gracefully shut the CallManagers down before the power goes down?  Also, when the power comes back up, will the servers automatically power up and come online? Is there any configurations to do for the CUCM to shutdown and come back online gracefully and automatically?

Thanks,

MK

Assuming you have a UPS connected and configured it should shut it down, otherwise just shut it down manually from OS admin or CLI.

Been a while since I had any UC apps on MCS but at least that I can remember when we had power failures in the lab I had to go and power on the servers.

As Java pointed out if you have a supported UPS attached the UPS will gracefully shutdown your server when the power level hits a certain threshold.  More information can be found on this here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/rel_notes/6_0_1/cucm-rel_note-601b.html#wp263712

"When the feature is activated, graceful shutdown will commence as soon  as the low battery threshold is reached. Resumption or fluctuation of  power will not interrupt or abort the shutdown.

For unsupported Cisco Unified Communications Manager releases, MCS  models and/or UPS vendor/make/models, you can cause an external script  to monitor the UPS. When low battery gets detected, you can log on to  Cisco Unified Communications Manager by using Secure Shell (SSH), access  the CLI, and execute the utils system shutdown command."

Thanks Guys, I appreciate your help.

After the power comes back, do we need to have someone physically onsite pressing the power button? Is there any way to restart the servers remotly?

Thanks,

Yes if you shutdown the server you would need someone to manually power it backup again.
