We had the following connection:
IPHone--Gw--WAN--GW(PSTN)-CCM
For outgoing call from IP Phone to PSTN , the ipphone heard very good but the PSTN heard very bad. The calls is connected in g729r8.
The calls iphone--CCM--GW---WAN---GW---Ipphone is g729 and the both heard very good.

Did you try to use G711 with calls to PSTN?

How are you connected to the PSTN? PRI, CAS, E1 R2, or FXO?
