BE7000M and vmnicx numbering

Hello,

we have a BE7000M (based on the Cisco UCS C240 M4 Rack Server).

On the VMware, we have 10 vNICs, numbered from vmnic0 to vmnic9.

In fact, we have the standard LAN1 and LAN2 interfaces (that correspond on the VMware to vmnic0 and vmnic1).

Furthermore, on the slots “PCIe 01” e “PCIe-02” of the server (see at http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/i/300001-400000/350001-360000/352001-353000/352947.eps/_jcr_content/renditions/352947.jpg), there are 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports for every slot, for a total of 8 additional ports.

So, our question is the following: how are these 8 additional ports mapped on the VMware, as vmnicx (where x goes from 2 to 9)?

That is: the first port from the left of the "PCIe-01" is vmnicx, the secon port is vmnicy, ..., and so on.

TIA and regards.

Correct, port 0 and 1 correspond to onboard NICs, ports 2-5 correspond to the lower PCI card where port 2 is the leftmost. Similarly 6-9 correspond to the upper card.

Thank you Chris for your answer!
