Hello,
I wonder if someone has a working ISDN2 (basic-net3) config they can share for point to multipoint (ideally in the UK).
I have always had ISDN2 circuits presented as point to point with a single BRI circuit (2 channels, one physical presentation) delivered on a single NTE and this config has always worked for me with static-tei assigned and isdn point-to-point.
However I have a new site going live and can't get the ISDN2 layer 2 to stay up consistently. The new circuit is presented as a MSN (multiple subscriber number) where there are two circuits (4 channels, two physical presentations) delivered on one NTE. I have worked with TAC but we still cant get the Layer 2 to stay up. Sometimes I get MULTIPLE FRAME ESTABLISHED on both circuits only for a call to come in and no audio be heard and we tear the call down with a temp failure.
The only way I can currently get a stable environment is by shutting down one of the BRI's and when we only have a single BRI activated we can get call in and out with no problem. I just need to bring the second BRI up.
This is the config that is on there at the moment :-
!
interface BRI0/1/0
no ip address
no ip redirects
no ip unreachables
no ip proxy-arp
shutdown
isdn switch-type basic-net3
isdn incoming-voice voice
isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager service mgcp
isdn sending-complete
!
interface BRI0/1/1
no ip address
no ip redirects
no ip unreachables
no ip proxy-arp
isdn switch-type basic-net3
isdn incoming-voice voice
isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager service mgcp
isdn sending-complete
!
When I do a no shut on int BRI0/1/0, and put in a test call I get this TEMP FAILURE :-

Then the BRI circuits drop layer 2 and I need to shut Int BRI 0/1/0 to get Int BRI 0/1/1 back up :-
ISDN BRI0/1/0 interface
dsl 2, interface ISDN Switchtype = basic-net3
L2 Protocol = Q.921 0x0000 L3 Protocol(s) = CCM MANAGER 0x0003
Layer 1 Status:
ACTIVE
Layer 2 Status:
TEI = 255, Ces = 1, SAPI = 0, State = ESTABLISH_AWAITING_TEI
Layer 3 Status:
0 Active Layer 3 Call(s)
Active dsl 2 CCBs = 0
The Free Channel Mask: 0x80000003
%Q.931 is backhauled to CCM MANAGER 0x0003 on DSL 3. Layer 3 output may not apply
ISDN BRI0/1/1 interface
dsl 3, interface ISDN Switchtype = basic-net3
L2 Protocol = Q.921 0x0000 L3 Protocol(s) = CCM MANAGER 0x0003
Layer 1 Status:
ACTIVE
Layer 2 Status:
TEI = 255, Ces = 1, SAPI = 0, State = ESTABLISH_AWAITING_TEI
Layer 3 Status:
0 Active Layer 3 Call(s)
Active dsl 3 CCBs = 0
The Free Channel Mask: 0x80000003
Total Allocated ISDN CCBs = 0
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

You need to use isdn static-tei 0.
Alos, things will work much better with H.323 or SIP, not MGCP.

Hi Paolo,
Thanks for the response. As this is Layer 2 I didnt think MGCP was the culprit. Also, TAC insisted we had to remove static-tei 0 from the config because both BRI circuits were using TEI=0 on the same NTE. When we remove isdn static-tei 0 then each BRI gets a different tei. for example BRI 0/1/0 will get TEI=64 and BRI 0/1/1 will get TEI=65.
do you have a working config for a BRI int you can post ?
thanks

TEI is assigned from CO switch, not NT. If both circuits are sharing the same numbers, they normally have static TEI 0.
Otherwise the default configuration is fine and there is no reason why shouldn't work, again assuming H.323, not MGCP.
