I think I've bricked my phone. I don't have call manager so I wanted to flash an SIP firmware on the phone, a 7965G. I got a firmware from Cisco site cmterm-7945_7965-sip.9-4-2SR2-2 put it on my TFTP and set the phone to that TFTP server ip address. Th screen flashed with an error message and then just stayed on the loading screen. after like 3 minutes it reboots and repeats the sequence. Please help.

1.  What is the exact error message?

2.  Look at the back of the phone.  Does it mention anything about HW version?  If it does, what is the HW of the phone?

3.  There is something missing here, you've got the firmware but where is the SEPmacaddress.cnf.xml file?

I have the same problem. Has anybody solved this yet?

I have exactly the same problem. Has taht been solved by now?

My first thought is that the factory firmware in the flash is older than 8.3(3), and that you will need to perform a two-stage firmware upgrade. Here is a document on this procedure. This applies to an upgrade to any firmware higher than 8.5(2):

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7942/7945/7962/7965/7975 Firmware Upgrade from pre-8.3(3) to 9.3(1)
