First, I should ask if it's even possible to associate a DN with an IPhone and VG224 Analog Gateway at the same time?
If so, and the DN has call forwarding (busy/no answer/unregistered/etc.) configured in CUCM, will call forwarding from the soft keys of the IP Phone override the CUCM settings?

Yes, its possible to have shared line between VG224 and IP Phone.
Call forwarding from the softkeys actually makes a change to the CUCM settings.

Thanks George. We do not want to change those settings as they are part of a 4-line overflow setup, but we're looking for an easy way (for a user) to set up temporary forwarding to another DN on demand. Any thoughts on how we could achieve this?

Unfortunately, if its a shared line changes made on one phone/line will be replicated to all other lines as well. The user can do the callforward from the phone but that will affect all lines, dont think there is another way to do it.

Its possible to associate same DN to different devices registered to CUCM. changing with soft keys will override in call manager and effect both devices. you can associate different devices with different DNs. and hunt group both with shared DN. in this case changing in soft keys in IP phone will not effect VG224 line.
