Can a Cisco 7931 button light as a MWI

Since 7931s don't have a display next to the button (only the paper format you fill out), can the button itself be programed to light when an there is a VM for that particular ext?  I have the phone configured as button 1 being the personal ext and VM lights on the handset.  I also have shared lines and I would like to configure it where one of these shared lines will light when there is a VM (I'd be content with configuring a separate button to display MWI for the shared group). Has anyone done this and if so, how?

Hi,

On a 7931 this is the MWI behavior when VM is left for the primary line:

1. MWI lights up on the handset

2. Prompt display "You have a voicemail" over "Your current options"

3. Message ICON appears over riding the line icon on display.

When VM is left for a Non-Primary line:

1. Message ICON appears over riding the line icon on display.

This means that if you have voicemails for lines other than the primary,

the icon would change for that line but not the MWI light on the handset

or the status line on the phone.

When you say 'Message ICON appears over riding the line icon on display' what do you mean, there is no display by the buttons on the 7931 other than the piece of paper where you manually write something, there is no 'message icon' that appears, or am I mistaken?

Hi,

You can scroll through the names/dn's associated with the button on the LCD screen by using

the up/down rocker key and the envelope should appear if there's VM.
