Captaris RightFax Problem to send/receive FAX with CUCM

Hi all,

as mentioned in subject, i found a lot of problems in deploy Captaris RightFax solution:

The deplyment scenario is the following:

PSTN <--> E1 PRI <--> MGCP Gateway <--> CUCM 7.1.5.32900-2 <--> MGCP Gateway <--> BRI <-->

RightFax is not using FOIP, but is attached to MGCP Router 2811 via 2BRI.

I'm using mgcp t38 fax relay.

Fax is working intermitted and sometimes pages are incomplete!

In attach configurations of 2 MGCP Gateway.

IOS Release is 12.4(24)T4 spservices

Could someone give me help to troubleshooting the problem?

Thank you in advanced

Regards

How is your rightfax server connected into the network? It should connect via a brooktrout card PRI.

Rightfax is connected via brooktrout card TR114+uP4B (4 BRI) to Cisco 2811 MGCP:

Here the configuration of voice gateway Cisco 2811:

interface BRI0/0/0

description -------------->     to RightFax
no ip address

interface BRI0/1/0

This is the deployment scenario:

PSTN <--> E1 PRI <--> MGCP Gateway <--> CUCM 7.1.5.32900-2 <--> MGCP Gateway <--> BRI <--> Captaris RightFAX

You can notice that NO PRI between MGCP gateway and Captaris; there is a brooktrout card TR114+uP4B (4 BRI)

Actualli mgcp gateway is working with T38

Diego

Hi Diego,

I'm doing a implementation with the righFax 9.4 with the CUCM 8.5 and I'm a problem to send and recive the Faxes.

The call arrive until the Gateway and when fax to begin pass, the recive fax fail.

To outgoing Faxes is the same. Follow my topology, I would like if could help me please ?

RighFax (SIP TRUNK)<---------->CUCM8.5 (MGCP) <------------->GW (R2-Digital) <-------------->PSTN <-----------> fax machine

Regards,

Vinicius

I did not know the new RightFax software could interface via a SIP trunk.

Do you see the gateway receiving the fax call in and forwarding the messaging to the CUCM?

Also what does the configuration on the rightfax SIP trunk look like on the CUCM end (how are you sending the directed fax) as well as the RIghtFax configuration?

To outgoing Faxes is the same. Follow my topology, I would like if could help me please ?

RighFax  (SIP TRUNK)<---------->CUCM8.5 (MGCP) <------------->GW  (R2-Digital) <-------------->PSTN <-----------> fax machine

In this configuration you do need to enable T.38 on the gateway.

voice service voip

     fax protocol t38 fallback pass-through g711ulaw

ccm-manager fallback-mgcp

no ccm-manager fax protocol cisco

MGCP

No MGCP T38 Fax Inhibit

Enable T38 and disable Cisco Fax on the MGCP configuration in CUCM.

In this configuration you wouldn't be using T.38 since the E1 and the BRIs are connected to the same gateway.  Do they fax machine try to negotiate?

Hi, did you get your fax solution working?

Yes I was able to get my fax solution working. I am still using a physical rightfax server with the brooktrout card. The brooktrout card and drivers are largely at fault for faxing problems. It has been solid so far after rebooting the server several times and the reinitializing the brooktrout card.

ssparkes, is there a specific question that you are looking for?
