Cat9K Auto-QOS for VOIP Phones & Softphones

Hi guys,

 

I'm trying to understand how to apply Auto-QOS on our new Catalyst 9000 switches. We use a mix of hardware VOIP phones and softphones, that both tag EF in the DSCP field of the IP header.

 

Based on that should I configure:

 

  • "auto qos voip trust" - for the access ports?
  • "auto qos trust dscp" - for the uplinks?
  • Should this be the other way around?
  • Or should I just use "auto qos trust dscp" everywhere?

 

I don't want to have to manually configure "auto qos voip cisco-phone/cisco-softphone" for every single access switchport depending on which device is connected, that'd be too much administrative overhead. Am I misunderstanding how this works?
