Is there an alternative method to Disaster Recovery tool for export (and importing) a publisher database? Due to a known bug with Backups going into a loop in 5.1.2, TAC have given me an ES patch upgrade to install to fix the issue. I'm very nervous about installing the patch however without having done a backup - but can't do backup until patch is installed. Any thoughts?

Which server you are using?
You may obtain an spare HDD and pull one of the existing HDD which contains data as physical backup.
Rebuild the array with the new spare HDD and run the upgrade.

Thanks for the reply. In fact I proceeded with the upgrade successfully, but coincidentally I also have a raid issue.
Are you able to point me to any documentation about rebuilding arrays. I have removed a disk and when trying to restore the array I get the following behaviour.
1. If I hot-insert the removed disk, the Web and CLI interface stop responding, due to high CPU I presume.
2. If I power off and insert the disk, boot fails and hangs during startup.
Does the removed disk need to be freshly formatted perhaps? Any hints would be appreciated.
BTW, its a MCS 7825-I2 IBM platform
