Hi Again Cisco techs,

Following Jaime Valencias suggestion to upgrade my CME for SIP. Looked at the CME and IOS matrix

CME 7.1 is chosen one and is 41mb basic

My external CF1 slot0 appears to have died as the LED for this no longer luminates with compact flash inside

Troubleshooting proves below

cme_router#sh file system
File Systems:

     Size(b)     Free(b)      Type  Flags  Prefixes
           -           -    opaque     rw   archive:
           -           -    opaque     rw   system:
       57336       48655     nvram     rw   nvram:
           -           -    opaque     rw   null:
           -           -   network     rw   tftp:
*   32047100      397360     flash     rw   flash:
           -           -     flash     rw   slot0:
           -           -    opaque     wo   syslog:
           -           -    opaque     rw   xmodem:
           -           -    opaque     rw   ymodem:
           -           -   network     rw   rcp:
           -           -   network     rw   pram:
           -           -   network     rw   ftp:
           -           -   network     rw   http:
           -           -   network     rw   scp:
           -           -   network     rw   https:
           -           -    opaque     ro   cns:

With slot0 empty (no compact flash inside)

cme_router#format slot0:
Format operation may take a while. Continue? [confirm]
Format operation will destroy all data in "slot0:".  Continue? [confirm]
Enter volume ID (up to 64 chars)[default slot0]:
%Error formatting slot0 (No device available)
cme_router#

Containing compact flash is the same

And show inventory output

cme_router#sh inventory

show hardware output

I don't suppose the slot0 is IOS based?

I am not sure if have seen any 2600XM in a long time, let alone 2600 (2600 were End of Sale about in 2003)

I think the best option would be to upgrade the router to atleast 2900 series router.

there are so many vendors who deal Cisco routers these days (esp if you are in the USA) that is should be very easy
